Weekend getaways are the perfect way to feel like you’ve had a little holiday without going too far. A couple of weeks ago I went to France and I will be going to Venice shortly. I personally love weekends away because it means I can see more of the world without using all my annual leave (we all know the struggle).
Here are my top tips for weekend getaway packing.
Yes, this is coming from someone who writes lists about lists but I find this really does help. If I list down the things I need before packing then I don’t tend to throw random bits in that I would later regret.
Mini’s are your best friend
Not only are they cute but they can save so much weight, so be sure the grab mini versions of your favourite products. If you don’t want to buy little versions, decant what you can into small containers so you can reduce the weight of your bag. If everything is under 100ml then just take hand luggage to save time at the airport.
Pack lightweight clothes and wear the heavy pieces
This is the easiest way to reduce the weight of your bag. Bulky shoes especially should be worn on the plane. It will save space and you get to have your favourite trainers or wedges.
This saves so much space! I started doing this a few years ago and now I do it as much as I possibly can. You clothes may get a little creased but nothing a quick iron at the other end can’t solve.
Stuff items in to shoes or hats
This will stop your shoes/hats getting all creased and bent as well as save you tones of space. I usually stuff socks and knickers in to my shoes so they keep their shape.
