Plunging in to up to -90 degrees celsius temperatures for only a few minutes (because anymore is considered dangerous) all in the name of beauty. Would you do it? I did and this is how I found it.
If you think you are cold sat in your heated home, you have experienced nothing yet! You want to try 111Cryo the UK’s first electrically cooled Cryotherapy chamber founded by plastic surgeon Dr. Yannis Alexandrides.
When you get your Cryo treatment you are asked to change in to the Cryo kit; shorts, a shorts bra, socks, gloves and a face mask. Your trainer then checks your body temperature and your aim is to get in down to about 17 degrees. Now it’s time to get in to the chamber, step in and follow your trainer through a series of ‘exercises’ to encourage your body to become colder. After 3 minutes you are out, your temperature is measured again and then you can get on your way.
Cryotherapy is meant to be good for a number of things:
- Relieve aches and Pains
- Boost Metabolism
- Reduce Swelling
- A Better’s Nights Sleep
Immediately I felt more awake. I was pretty much ready to do anything, my endorphins were pumping. I still felt cold to the touch understandably as my body temperature went down to about 17 degrees. I didn’t actually feel cold, I actually went in with a cardigan on and left without it, I felt quite warm. Soon after, that wore off and I started to feel pretty tired. I slept like an absolute baby that night and then woke up feeling refreshed and energetic. So much so that I didn’t even have my usual morning coffee. It was a good experience but far too expensive for my liking. I couldn’t imagine spending over £90 for 3 minutes.
Would you take the plunge?
